OMG, the amount of times I've had to spell rhythm in the last day or so! It is seriously the hardest word to spell. ANYWAY, I was reading a post over at Apple of the Forest and it totally gave me the idea for this post....to document the chaos in our day. I admit, it is our plan to create some rhythm around here come next Tuesday (not yet!), but I won't be totally upset if it doesn't happen. So, here's what happens on pretty much a daily basis:
The kids jump on the couch...A LOT!
and dribble basketballs.
Those tables get turned over about 20 times each day.
They take out all of the pots and pans.
Taven always makes sure to put on his lip gloss.
I also have to watch this little booger.
The girls dress-up.
Taven crawls up into the sink.
Naia pretends she's a witch
and then heads downstairs....on her stomach.
And yes! Our walls and carpet really are that dirty. Carpet makes me want to barf. It will be gone...one day.
OH WAIT! We do have some rhythm! Well, I do.
Love it! I can see our rhythms (damn! I can't spell it either) are very similar - no toys...just foraging through the house to create play stuff (and, in our case thoroughly trashing the house filled with filthy, filthy carpet...and there's only one little around here - so gross). I think the biggest difference is wine instead of beer. Wish we were neighbors! ;-)
ReplyDeleteHehe! I love it. When my girls were little one of them used to take her clothes off all the time!( not anything she saw me do honest!), I used to cringe! And pots and pans would be all over the floor. We got rid of all our carpets. We have wooden floors. So easy to clean (although that's not very often!)
ReplyDeleteHappy days!
I really enjoy your posts! Mine are now out of the house and it seems like yesterday they were little. You have such happy children :)
ReplyDeleteLove it. Carpet makes me want to barf too. And we have it EVERYWHERE. Even in the dinning room!!!!!??? Who puts carpet in the dinning room? ugh! When we moved in I didn't even know that room was supposed to be a dinning room b/c of the carpet!
ReplyDeleteAh! What a wonderful post~love it! I'll have to borrow the idea. It's so good to see that other people's days are as chaotic (and rhythmic) as ours. Yea yea!
ReplyDeleteAnd I second what Swanski says--your beautiful babes look full of joy and high on the chaos of life. Way to be.
LOL!!! I hope all those beer caps aren't from one afternoon!
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome! I always feel good coming here, and know that my kids aren't the only crazy ones. Crazy in a good way, though.
And yes, carpet is gross. I got rid of it all!
Your rhythm sounds (and looks!) a lot like ours! That picture of Naia going downstairs on her stomach about gave me a heart attack, though. I looked before I read the caption, and for a moment I thought you captured her falling down the steps. Much cuter when I know the real story behind it.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your kids' hair. Seriously. Those curls are too cute. Do they let you mess with combing/styling it without tears, though? Even brushing Trinity's hair is apt to cause WWIII, and her curls aren't nearly as tight as your kids'. Ponytails require wrestling holds and threats of not going outside. And it keeps getting worse. Any tips for dealing with toddler hair?
I hate carpet, too! We've gotten rid of it everywhere except for our bedroom. It will be gone, eventually. But we spend so little time in there that it's not a huge problem. Hardwood and tile is so much easier with kids and animals.
thank you for having a real post!
ReplyDeleteabout real life with kids! we are having a bit of the same rhythm and chaos... and we love every minute of it !
Thank you for being real! :)
ReplyDeleteGosh Taven makes me giggle so much. All three of your children are beauties but he just is too funny!
~~~I LOVE IT!~~~
ReplyDeleteJust the thing I needed to see today!
Geez, this reminds me of someone I know. :) Especially the lip gloss and the couch jumping!
Thanks for your response to what I was feeling and for this totally awesome post.
We have a lot of similar chaos. My house is messy, noisy, and full of life. Things are not always peaceful, and in a lovely-controlled-rhythm and probably never will be around here.
ReplyDeleteI think your day of chaos looks like fun :)
What cuties!!!! Thanks for stopping by :)
ReplyDeleteAmanda- NO! those beer caps are not all form one afternoon, lol.
ReplyDeleteKimberly- My best hair advice, cut it off!
But what lovely chaos it is :)
ReplyDeleteYour children are adorable!
Totally off subject - I'm not sure if you got my response to your comment on my blog the other day, when you told me your husband got the job? I just realized today that your comments in my email come with an address of "noreply" and I can't seem to find an email or contact on your blog. But I wanted to say "CONGRTULATIONS"!!!!!!! So excited for you, your husband, and your family! :))))
ReplyDeleteI love reading your blog and being transported back to when I had a home full of little ones moving in all directions. They are a lively bunch and that's the way it should be. I now only have one wee one here [and only part time] and when she goes home my home is just too quiet!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the carpet. I have one room left to finish and mine will all be gone. It has only taken me 15 years to do it and I'm married to a contractor!xx
Such energy! I know I'm on the cusp of the season in my life in which my little one will be tearing it up. I'm trying to enjoy the relative peace now, while I can. :)
ReplyDeletehaha- this post made me laugh- I love that you have rhythm in your life!!
ReplyDeletei really do ove your blogging, so noce to see some real life, not just the shiney facade (that i slao portray!) kids are nuts, and mine are just the same, my house mostly looks like there been a flash flood with stuff on the floor everywhere and furniture upside down! Ive nominated you for a badge blogger award, called the "versatile blogger award". Ive linked to you from my blog and you can read the blurb on my latest post..honestly im quite new to blogging and dont really know much about awards and stuff but i really enjoy yours so i though i'd give you a mention! cheers bird, lisa x
ReplyDeleteGreat post. Ah the chaos. Still, yours looks pretty good, all the same. They could be sitting quietly plugged into the TV or similar. Less tidying up! But no, I'll take the chaos everytime. Love the energy.
