Yarn Along With The Library Fairy

I've gone from being a working librarian to being a stay-at-home-mom and library fairy. I make and hide bookmarks in library books for others to find. I got the idea last week on world-wide knit in public day. You can check out my first bookmark here. For more "Yarn Alongs" or to post your own, head over to Small Things.

  1. I've always wanted to be a library fairy! I've missed my chance several times. Now it's all too high-tech for me. So I do my best to manage our own home library and visit our public ones many times each week...because you never know what you might find on the shelves (or, if you have anything to do with it ... what might be IN the shelves ;-).

  2. I LOVED Prodigal Summer. I just finished The Lacuna last night. It was good, but I didn't get sucked in like I have with all of her others.

  8. Yes! I really leave bookmarks in library books, lol! I am liking A Homemade Life, but I'm a little more into Prodigal Summer right now. I think A Homemade Life must be popular in the blogging world. Everyone is recommending it to everyone.

  9. I read a Homemade Life awhile ago and absolutely loved it. I love your idea of leaving the bookmarks...it reminds me of an art project by Temporary Services (I think) who put handmade artists books and objects on the shelves of Chicago libraries. When people went to check them out, there was no barcode, so the librarians automatically put one on. So all these little DIY works of art were adopted into the collection by default...very cool, I think.

  11. That is such a great idea! I've always wanted to participate in some sort of guerilla knitting/yarn bombing, and this seems perfect. :)
