I read a post last week from Simple Homeschool about homeschooling advice. Take trips it said. Do not wait until the kids are all the right age. Since I had Mirek we have not been camping at all. So I packed up the kids and headed out. My husband stayed home to work.
First we went to Mission Tejas State Park.
We happened to get a campsite right across from the playground.
They were having a Folk Festival and we got to see an old west shootout.
Next we headed to the Texas State Railroad Historical Park.
And since we were in the area, we made a stop at Grandpa's Farm. We found this smoking gun on the way.
The farm is Taven's Happy Place.
Power tools.
Pretending they are momma and baby cow.
Grandpa works. Kids play. Old men watch.
Picking dewberries.
We brake for turtles!
That looks like an awesome trip!!! I would love to explore Texas someday!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great adventure, Megan, you are a brave woman to do the camping thing on your own!( I get nervous going to the supermarket on my own with the kids!!) Looks like you had an amazing time, it is just so good for kids to get out in nature. We are going camping in a couple of days, and I am getting nervous about setting up the tents on my own (Andy coming down later after work when it will be dark)! Arrrgghhh, it is so long since I set up a tent - could be interesting! Love the pics of your little ones with the caterpillar! Love, Lou xx
ReplyDeleteThis looks so fun! The pictures are great- especially the caterpillar ones. I love it. And I am so glad you took a self-shot! You don't have enough pictures of your beautiful self on here. :)
ReplyDeleteGrandpa works. Kids play. Old men watch. Pretty much sums it up :)
ReplyDeleteyou are so brave (and amazing) to take all four kids solo camping. I am nervous to take my 2 as Phoebe loves to run away!
ReplyDeletewhat a brilliant adventure and yes , I too think you are brave..I get overwhelmed with just two kids! I should do it more though! x
