Texas Living History

Today we went to visit the Bluebonnets one last time.

Then we went to visit a living history farm. The farm belonged to a man by the name of Anson Jones and his family in the mid 19th century.

 The kitchen.

The kids were obsessed with doing the laundry.

They went to play with the toys for a bit.

 But quickly returned to laundry.

Had a visit with the rooster.

 And more laundry.

If you hadn't guessed yet, I am now on the lookout for a washboard and some washbasins. I will also be lowering the laundry line in the backyard.

Caught Naia brushing her hair with a random 19th century brush.

 The barn.

 Slave quarters.

And a happy hog.

Upon leaving Naia said "I wish we could live here Mom."
"Me too, Naia. Me too." ...minus the slaves of course.

  1. What an awesome place! We love to visit historic places. We visit one near our home last year on the Pioneer Day. I could hardly get the boys away from the corn sheller :) Glad you all had a great time!

  2. Sounds like you have missed a trick for getting 'helpers' at home - good luck with sourcing the washboard! I have been trying to get my kids interested in taking on some laundry hanging as an occasional help, but finding it hard to spark their enthusiasm - this historical approach might just be the answer! Love the pic of your girls jumping over the hay bales - those bales look enormous - looks like lots of fun. xx

  3. Agh! I love these kinds of museums, we have one near us and it's one of our favorite places to visit!
I laughed about the laundry thing! So cute. Our third kid down loves it too.

  4. Love these types of museums. Those horses are gorgeous! We have several plantation style houses here that are open to the public. Planning on taking the kids in the next few months. I like your new header too.
