We completed our second nature challenge yesterday at the Houston Audubon Society's Sims Bayou Urban Nature Center. It was a scorcher!
First, we learned all about homing pigeons and their history. We found one with a secret message using this compass,
and we created our own.
Eaden is still playing with her and her sister's pigeons. She loves the secret message that was taped to the leg.
We learned about Chimney Swifts.
We learned about Chimney Swifts.
We learned about Sims Bayou,
the largest freshwater fish in Texas (Alligator Gar),
and the largest land mammal in North America.
Fun challenge!
I literally could not breathe through this post as I imagined what it'd be like there with that temperature! I would never leave the house if I lived there. You are AMAZING! I'm intrigued by the Alligator Gar - very cool. And love how into studying your kiddos are :-)
ReplyDeleteWow, this is so cool! And I can't believe how big that fish is!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe something like that lives in there. I'm kind of glad we didn't see it, for real!
ReplyDeleteI know! I don't know if anyone swims in the bayou, but what if you were swimming in the bayou and that thing rubbed against you! gives me the creepy crawlies thinking about it.
