I've recently come to the conclusion that if my house is not clean when I wake up, then myself and the kids will not get much done. I tried to come up with some sort of cleaning schedule inspired by a Homeschool Day in the Life post at Simple Homeschool (which I cannot seem to relocate).
The plan kind of worked last week until we went for a nature walk on Thursday,
another nature walk on Friday,
and took a trip to the water wall.
We didn't do much over the weekend (including clean), and again went out for the day Monday.
So, now, on Tuesday, the house is a wreck. I have to spend the whole morning cleaning. On top of that, as I am cleaning my son decides to do this
I stop washing dishes and give him a bath...and if he has a bath, the girls want a bath. What I think needs to be done is a little night cleaning. Make sure the house is ready when we wake up. Thankfully, my kids are young enough that we haven't started "real" homeschooling. I'm still trying to figure everything out especially how our day will go and how I will keep records. I know everything will change when the new baby comes in June too...oh well.
Love the pictures! And I'm excited to hear about your pregnancy. Will you find out the gender?
ReplyDeleteI will find out next week! Hoping for a boy so that Taven can share a room (we have no rooms left) but obviously we will be happy with either...just might need a new house.
DeleteGlad you're back!!! Again....lol ;)
ReplyDeleteCleaning and organization are skills that I'm seriously lacking. I've tried the daily "to-do" list. It would last a couple days then, like you, other things would happen that would throw everything off course. Hope you get it all figured out. And share if you do!
I know what you mean about having the house tidy - it keeps your head clear I think - but I try not to get too hung up on it: generally I find as long as the kids stuff is cleared away in the evening and the floor's kind of clean (hard with a hairy hound around!) that's all I need to be able to get on with the day. Anything else I notice needing doing I try and ignore until I have a spare 5 minutes when the girls are engrossed in something.
ReplyDeleteThere's too much going on with kids, especially when they're so young, to worry about your home looking pristine I reckon. I read somewhere about a stay-at-home mum realising one day that she had a fierce scowl on her face most days as she battled with housework and that that was how her kids saw her most of the time, which certainly made me think! x
i'm not worried about it looking pristine, just a little tidy. the kids can create a tornado in a matter of minutes...and the husband wants it clean. you know he thinks i'm at home all day and so it should be clean. what does he know right? i like it clean too, especially the kitchen. i'm not worried about the kids rooms, that's a lost cause.
