Daily Snippets

I want to have a place where I can keep these "daily snippets." Maybe I will make a daily snippet post once a month or so. I have to remember these forever!

Naia: "Oh gosh!"
Eaden: "Is gosh a bad word?"
Me: "No, it's okay."
(one hour later)
Eaden: "Mom, I said gosh four times!"

(writing in our joke book)
Eaden: "Why did the chicken's bones get off of it?...Because he hit a big done."
Me: "What's a  done?"
Eaden: "It looks like a bed but it's bouncy."
Me: "A trampoline?"
Eaden: "No, a done."

I don't remember what I said, but Eaden got mad and said "mommy I'm going to fart on you!" (in her angry voice). I couldn't help laughing and then she got REALLY mad at me for laughing.

The girls are playing "sewing" today. Yesterday they were playing "potty" where they sit on chairs, make grunting noises, and flush.

Caught Naia licking her fingers and sticking them in the sugar.

Me: "Why are you sitting on the couch singing the clean-up song?"
Eaden: "Because I want YOU to clean."

Eaden: "Did Abigail get a new pacifier?"
Me: "Yeah, I guess."
Eaden: "Is it from China, from the big wall?"
Me: (lol) "Probably."

Ade: "Give me back my juice Eaden."
Eaden: "You have to share. Sharing is caring."
Ade: "But you never share."
Eaden: "Okay, well let's play hot potato with it."

(Taven turns on the t.v.)
Me: "No t.v. today Taven."
Naia: "Yeah, t.v. is not good for you."
Eaden: "Yeah, playing is good for you."

Eaden: "Mommy, I'm wearing these (stethoscope) so I don't have to hear you."

Yarn Along

I wasn't going to do a Yarn Along today because I haven't been knitting much (I've been sewing). However, I am seriously in need of book recommendations and so I decided to post. I went to the library yesterday to pick up my kids' holds, browsed the adult fiction section, and left with nothing. I came home and browsed my bookshelves and picked up what you see here. 

Believe it or not, I'm an English major, History minor, and Librarian. Yet I have never read The Grapes of Wrath. Dissolution is one I picked up from my Grandma's house. She has recommended great books to me in the past, namely Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon and Under the Banner of Heaven by Jon Krakauer. I could not put those down. Now whenever I go to her house, I tend to borrow something. She didn't recommend this though. I found it. It's starting out okay. Not sure how far I'll get. Mayflower is one I've had, but never read. We'll see. I'm kind of in the mood for fiction.

The bottom two books are Project Wild and Project Wild Aquatic Curriculum books. I went to a free training through Texas Parks and Wildlife a couple of weeks ago and I'm going through them to see what activities I might do with my oldest daughter come September. I'm doing actual homeschool planning despite her being four. I'm doing the planning more for me than her. I need to plan activities to keep me off of the computer! I really want to start blogging and reading blogs only at night and on weekends. Wish me luck! ...and please recommend some books! Check out others or post your own Yarn Along over at Small Things.

Clothes of Art

I found a picture that Eaden drew in one of my notebooks the other night. I thought it was super cute and I knew I would have to make something out if it.

When I asked Eaden what the picture was of she said her Aunt Jamie when she had Abigail in her belly. Doesn't that make it even more cute than it already is!!!? I traced the picture onto some white fabric and made a shirt out of it. My kids are going through a no pictures stage and will not pose for anything....so excuse the pictures.

I know the drawing is huge on that little shirt, but it's just so darn cute! I also made some matching shorts out of a picture Eaden drew of a butterfly.

My pockets always turn out so big! Now I think I'm going to have to go to Goodwill and find a frame. I need a wall hanging. Shirts don't last forever.
