Two Scheduled Days

First of all, the goal of our scheduled days is peace. I believe that with 2 or 3 scheduled days a week, our family will become more peaceful on ALL days. So far, my plan is working.

We ended up having two scheduled days this week, Monday and Wednesday. I had planned on a scheduled Friday, but we spent the night at my sister's house Thursday night and Friday became free.

A Good Play

We built a ship upon the stairs

All made of the back-bedroom chairs,

And filled it full of sofa pillows

To go a-sailing on the billows.

We took a saw and several nails,

And water in the nursery pails;

And Tom said, "Let us also take

An apple and a slice of cake";

We sailed along for days and days,

But Tom fell out and hurt his knee,

...which quickly led to this.

 Eventually, things calmed down and everyone "worked" a little.

 I took out some different toys for the kids to play with.

Instead of quiet time in the rooms (which is not for our family apparently), the kids played out back.

On Thursday I changed the schedule up a bit. Everyone here is most attentive early in the morning so I figured I'd rotate what we do first. On Thursday, it was History.

Eaden was my helper and she wanted me to read Twas the Night Before Christmas. If you say so.

 Here is what we are reading for History. I bought the blank timeline book used (but not written in) at the Homeschool Store.

 I like doing video narrations. Not only are they fun to look back on, but the kids retain the information because they have to do 5-10 takes. Ha ha!

 Another rotation of the toys. The kids have been working on how to get Mirek to help them build up instead of knocking down their creations. They have actually come a long way. All it involves is asking him to help instead of telling him to go away.

 We have had quite a bit of rain this week. Eaden created this ensemble to step outside. Looks hot to me!

 On our way home from the Y, Taven asked for lemonade and  I told him no. He kept asking and asking, then started whining and crying. I could tell it was going to be a fight. After we got home, he was still crying about the lemonade. How could I peacefully solve the situation? ...

I asked if he wanted to help me cut some potatoes and we would make his favorite meal. French fries, bacon, and eggs. It worked!

I told Taven how proud I was of him for not crying about the lemonade all night and moving on. He smiled and asked for water.
