Dig Pit at Last

The kids have been bugging me to go to the natural science museum out in Sugar Land for some time now. Since our membership expires next month, we went. This was Mirek's first time in the junior pit. Watching him play reminded me of how these ball pits used to be everywhere when I was a kid. I do not know of anywhere but here that has them now (and this one is small).

 The others dug up dinosaur bones (their prime reason for wanting to come).

 The kids have been interested in shadows lately so this was pretty cool. Different color lights change the color of your shadow.

 The temporary exhibit is about bats.

 This next picture reminded me that we have still not been to Austin to see the bats emerge from under the Congress Avenue Bridge there. Road trip!

We picked up a few things at the museum gift shop. Taven bought a potato gun with his money and I bought a little kit on optical illusions and another on kitchen science. I will post on those soon I'm sure.

Space Center Houston

Here are our pictures from Space Center Houston. We had a lot of fun and I look forward to going back without Mirek. We missed a 90 minute tram tour that takes you around the NASA complex. It would have been pure torture with a one and a half year old....next time. I also didn't have a single dollar with me (we have a membership) so we didn't get to try "space food" or some of the flight simulators. There is a Star Wars one that I think Taven would love. It is $4.

School is in!!!! The city is ours!!!!

I'm getting back into my parenting groove and it definitely helps that kids are back in school. Once again, we have the city to ourselves!!!

 We have had a membership to the Museum of Natural Science for a couple of years now, but for some reason have never been to the planetarium. We always choose 3D Imax instead.

 From now on, I will be choosing the planetarium! The show is shorter (20 minutes) which makes it much easier with a baby. Plus, most of the programs are space related and Eaden loves space. She also loves tornadoes which I found out at the planetarium...good to know.

 Taven walked around the dinosaur museum making dinosaur noises, pretending he was a mommy T-Rex looking for her baby.

 

 Eaden somewhat understands evolution, but the little ones always think they are going to turn into apes...

 We had to run through the Egypt exhibit again. Unfortunately, it is not Taven's favorite.
